This Alamo Impact Breccia rock weighs 3 ounces (85.05 grams) and comes from the United States is a unique collectible that any rock, fossil, or meteorite enthusiast would love to add to their collection. This rock comes from the epicenter of the impact near Area 51 in Nevada, making it a rare find.  It was collected on March 19, 2024.
This Alamo Impact Breccia was collected by Dr Alan Chamberlain, president of Cedar Strat, whose geologists first discovered the breccia while advancing the Great Basin Geologic Survey in 1985 that Shell Oil Company initiated in the early 1950s. They thought it was reef talus.  However, Dr Chamberlain's PhD advisor, John Warme, at the Colorado School of Mines first recognized it as an impact breccia while on a field trip to Dr Chamberlain's field area on January 3, 1990.
