Title / Subject: 'The Road from Edinburgh to Glasgow, by Bathgate'

Date: 1776

Size: the printed area on each side of the sheet measures approximately 460mm x 190mm, with good sized margins beyond.

Description: A finely engraved, large 18th century road map through part of Scotland. The route is printed on both sides of the sheet with detail of topography and place names. The road passes through a number of settlements including:

Plate 13: Edinburgh, Bathgate, Glasgow

Plate 14: Edinburgh, Linlithgow, Falkirk, Stirling

Provenance: 'Taylor and Skinner's Survey and Maps of the Roads of North Britain, or Scotland', London, 1776

Condition: Very good condition overall. Light age toning. Minor wear to the edges of the sheet, well away from the printed area. Three binding holes to the bottom margin (Plate 13), again not affecting the printed area. A very mild fold to the sheet where the original leather bound publication was folded (would flatten out over time or if being mounted and framed). Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
