2023-24 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey Checklist Overview
No base card in the product has more than 349 copies. That’s the print run for standard base cards covering top NHL vets. Standard parallels include Red (/75), Blue (/25), Green (/10) and Gold (1/1). There are also autographs and memorabilia cards for select cards.
Diamond Relics are also available. Numbered to 5, these have between one and four gems depending on the player and their star power. Pure Black versions are one-of-ones. Some base cards also have numbered autographs and premium memorabilia cards.
First-year players get the Diamond Relic Rookies treatment. These have just 99 copies. Like the vet versions, the number of diamonds vary with the key players topping out at four a piece. Ruby (/49), Purple (/25), Emerald (/10) and Pure Black (1/1) make up the modest but challenging parallel rainbow.
Digging for Diamonds
2023-24 Black Diamond Hockey has diamonds elsewhere on its checklist as well.
Gemography returns, offering signatures alongside the jewels. Base versions have 25 copies each with additional Ruby (/15), Purple (/10), Emerald (/5) and Pure Black (1/1) also available.
Also back is Band of Colors. Vets have 23 copies while rookies are numbered to 24. The idea behind these is that they now only have six diamond relics but each one is a different color. New Pure Black parallels are one-of-ones.
Autographs and Memorabilia Cards
Top rookies get the spotlight in Jewels of the Draft. Colorful in their own right, they come with both a signatures and piece of memorabilia. Pure Black (1/1) are the lone parallels. There are also similar Veteran Jewels of the Draft that have established stars rather than first-year players.
Among the other autograph inserts on the 2023-24 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey checklist are Rookie Gem Signatures, new Glistening Graphs (1:40 packs), Sparkling Scripts (1:6 packs), and Sparkling Scripts Rookies (1:10 packs).
On the memorabilia side, there’s Diamond Mine Relics (1:4 packs), Diamond Mine Dual Relics (1:10 packs), Diamond Mine Triple Relics (1:20 packs) and Diamond Debut Relics (1:4 packs).
Additional Inserts
Cup Winner Patches are manufactured relics that highlight a new group of players who hoisted Lord Stanley’s cup. Base versions are 1:12 packs while Gold parallels and Gold Autographs get the serial number treatment.
Team Logo Jumbo Patches (1:5 packs) take a similar manu-relic path. Parallels incorporate different logos: Retro (1:15 packs), Full Team (/15), Full Team Alternate (/5) and NHL Shield (1/1). Rookie versions are 1:3 packs and 1:10 for Retro Logos. Select first-year players also have autographs numbered to 99 or less.
New York legends are part of Rangers Retired Number Patches (/99). Gold parallels and Gold Autographs match up with the player’s jersey number.
Diamond Stars, Diamond Legends and Diamond Futures have 299 copies each plus 49 Purple parallels. Autographs and Diamond Relic Autographs are also in the lineup.
Other insert themes include Run for the Cup (/99), Diamonation Rookies (/99), Diamond Might (/99), Diamond Facet (1:10 packs), and Diamond Gallery (1:10 packs)
