Good only condition. Some old watermarking to covers. Sunning to spine. Minor fraying to cloth at head of spine. Light edge and corner wear. Front inner hinge starting. Foxing and light damp residue to edges of blank endpapers. Minor foxing to title page and frontispiece. A few leaves uncut as issued. Small closed tear to outer edge of a preface leaf. This is Volume 1 only of the two-volume first edition of MacCann's Soutb American travelogue.

A curiosity of this exciting South American travelogue is the publisher's catalogue at the rear, which contains an ad for the first release of Charlotte Bronte's Villette. MacCann's book itself is well-illustrated, with a fold-out map, a hand-coloured frontispiece and two tinted lithographs.
