Late 1800's cast iron skillet by Sperry (D.R. Sperry), marked with the July 1887 patent date.  This one is offered as it was found and overall condition is very good. There are light utensil marks on the cooking surface and either very shallow pitting or rough casting on the underside.  Either one is very common on the Sperry skillets. As always, I recommend a thorough cleaning and fresh seasoning before use in food preparation.

The skillet measures 11 3/4 inches across the flattened pour spouts and thanks to the thin walls that are expected of a skillet from this time period, the weight is comfortable for a skillet of this size.  4 pounds 12 ounces on my scale.  The skillet does have a subtle movement on a flat surface, seemingly caused by the raised "9" extending higher than the heat ring.
