48mo.  [12] pages.  A small book measuring 3 11/16 inches tall by 3 1/4 inches wide.  Bound in cloth-backed stiff paper boards with a color design on the front cover of a small child feeding a chicken and chicks.  The binding is quite worn, and there are creases on the front and rear covers.  Illustrated with 4 color plates of children in nature or with animals.  Also contains some line drawings.  There are pencil scribble markings in the text.  No copyright date, but an early owner has signed and dated the front flyleaf in 1897.  The final leaf of text notes that this book was printed in Bavaria by Nister, but the front cover notes that it was published (or at least distributed) by Nister in London and Dutton in New York.  The bottom of the front cover also notes "Printed in Bavaria 876a".  A charming and scarce little book.
