Brass jewellers’ anvil

From the contents of a multi generational jewellers shop.

This anvil was used to shape rings, wire etc and shows all the dings to illustrate its working life. This anvil would have been clamped into a vice and used at all angles. As a result all sides, even underneath shows marks of use

Unusually, like a full scale anvil, this version also has two holes used to aid bending of metal

Although it’s working life may be over, this anvil is a super tactile object and I’ll serve well as a paperweight or press in craft work, or lovely wedding gift
