Vintage Sterling Silver Malachite Ring Shadowbox SZ 9.5 Navajo Native American

This is a lovely marquise-shaped sterling silver ring with a gorgeous oval malachite stone as its centerpiece. The stone is set in a serrated bezel, with the outer silver frame forming a shadowbox. The ring face also has attractive 'radiating line' stamp work.

The ring is a size 9.5.

The shank is about 1/8" wide.

The ring face is 7/8" wide and 1  3/8" long.

The malachite stone is 3/16" by 3/4".

It weighs 8.2 g.

The artist's hallmark is "S Dickens" with a gap between the "C" and the "ENS", indicating Navajo silversmith Sarah Dickens, who at one time worked for the Atkinson Trading Company. The shank may have been re-sized at some point, thereby affecting the artist's hallmark.

This piece was obtained from an estate in Chicago, IL, whose family was in the Native American arts and crafts industry for over 55 years, beginning in the late 1950s.
