This is a stunning winter coat made of original beach cloth, a simple design with focus on highest craftmanship and raw material.

The coat is named after Ebbets Field, home of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
It is based on a baseball team warm-up coat of 1910s.
The high gauge medium weight Beach cloth is a raschel-knitted material, comprised of 70% wool and 30% Cotton specially developed by Freewheelers. 

Freewheelers continues to pursue the ideals of this material and reproduce the highest quality:  The material used is an exquisite sesame-salt beachcloth that reproduces the texture of deadstock beachcloth from the 1920s. (Freewheelers' original fabric.) Unlike most reproductions of beach cloth, this fabric is made of four different count thicknesses and yarn-dyed.
One of the charms of yarn-dyeing is that it produces deep colors because the yarn is dyed all the way to the center of the yarn.
It takes time for the color to reflect well into the yarn, and the cost is high because of the large number of dyes used.
This particular fabric is a high-density double weave (different on the front and back) of cotton and wool, using a Russell loom for knitting. The outer fabric is a cotton/wool with a knit feel, while the back fabric is a double layer with a raised wool pile.
This recently stuffed, firm fabric was used for workwear and sportswear applications, although it is a knit fabric.

The front buttons are 23mm tagua palm Olive-colored nut buttons with an outstanding presence.
