This is for a beautiful little miniature mother of pearl sewing box tape measure. It dates to the mid 1800s and has a final on the top to wind the silk tape back after use. It has the original gilt bars to hold the tape and it is in excellent condition with no cracks and wear tot he silk as shown. It measures 22mm just under 1" diameter.
