Pierre D'AVESN Poissons FRENCH Art Deco GLASS VASE Lalique artist 1930's PISCES fish RARE!

Offered for purchase is this fabulous vintage 1930's era French Art Deco glass "Poissons" (Pisces) vase by French art glass master  Pierre Gire, also known as Pierre d'Avesn (1901-1984.) Early in his life Pierre d'Avesn worked for Rene Lalique and designed Lalique's famous "Serpent" vase as well as the "Tourbillons" vase, two of the most highly prized and extremely collectable pieces by Lalique. During the course of his career d'Avesn was the artistic director of molded glass at Daum Freres, and then managed Verlys Glass until World War II started. He also designed and produced his own pieces such as this one. This stunning vase was created in white glass with a slightly blueish green hue, especially when illuminated. The finish is glossy inside and on the fish bodies outside, but frosted like Lalique on the rest of the exterior. It is signed "D'AVESN" in blue paint on the bottom, and also has a molded "P D'AVESN" hallmark and an etched "MADE IN FRANCE" mark (see photos.) Dimensions are 11" diameter x 10.5" tall, and it weighs 9.5 lbs. Condition is excellent perfect with no cracks or chips except there is one minor flaw on the inside of the rim lip, and there is a hole in the bottom as this was apparently a lamp at one time. This would make an AMAZING lamp with a brass or lucite base added. It could still be used for dry flowers as is, or the hole could be plugged to use with live flowers and water. A nice addition to any glass collection...
