This  fantastic card was issued by the Walter M. Lowney Company of Montreal, as an insert premium in their brand of Cracker Jack Popcorn in the Mid 1940’s.   The Walter M. Lowney Company OF Montreal was under contact with the Cracker Jack Company of Chicago in the United States to Manufacture and sell Cracker Jack Popcorn in Canada.  The Front of the Card features a very realistic portrait of the featured plane in full flight and usually involved in battle action.  While the back features a very detailed description of the plane including which nations used it, what engine it had, it’s speeds, heights,  flight range and many other interesting and in-depth details.   There are three different types of backs for this series.  One type list the number of cards in the series as being 50, another list the set at 98, while another type list the series as being complete at 147 cards.  Also in small print on the back of each card are the words “copyright applied for” and “Litho in Canada”.   The series features planes from such nations as Soviet Russia, The United States of America, Great Britain,  France and many of the others involved in Word War 2.     This card is number 84 in the series and features a GRUMMAN WILDCAT plane,  with the 98 Series variation of card back .     The card measures 3 1/16 inches by 2 ½  inches by approximately. The card is free from major creases.  I have scanned the cards fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself.  These cards are a fantastic document of World War Two Air Power.  With the fantastic graphics and great historical detail these cards would be a fantastic addition to any Collector of Aviation or World War Two Memorabilia.  THERE IS NO OTHER CARD SERIES THAT COVER SUCH A WIDE GROUP OF PLANES WITH SUCH DETAIL AND ACCURACY.  This series goes well beyond what the Heinz and National Chicle Sky Birds,  or any of the Goudey or Gum Inc Gum card series did.
