The 1st Cavalry Division is a combined arms division and one of the most decorated combat divisions of the United States Army. It was formed in 1921. In 1942, the 1st Cavalry was an armoured motorised unit equipped with light tanks and 50 calibre machine guns. After the battles of Los Negros and Leyte Island the division went on to take Manila fighting in the battles of Bataan and Corregidor. 1st Cavalry Division suffered battle casualties of 4,055 men, 734 killed, 3,311 wounded, 9 missing and 1 taken prisoner of war. The Division left Luzon in August 1945 for occupation duties in Japan and they remained in Japan for the next five years.


Soldier and magazine are new but the outer thin plastic film is coming apart so I have placed soldier and magazine in a plastic poly pocket.
