This is an exceptionally fine example of an Armorial copper amphora pot. Double iron handles, and a hammered finish on the copper with repousse design of pine cones and the Pau (South of France ) Coat of Arms.

This was most likely made in Pau at the turn of the 20th century -it is in an Arts and crafts /Jugendstil style -

Henri IV of France was born in Pau in 1553.
Since 1829 Pau has been authorised to reproduce Henri IV coat of arms to celebrate and commemorate his connection to the town. These pieces were produced for the tourist visitors to the town to take home as a reminder of their visit. This piece is of particularly high quality and much larger, compared to many of the pieces produced and is a true collectors item.
