Realistic APM-200 Power Meters.These meters have been disassembled, cleaned, every electrolytic capacitor replaced and custom lighting has been installed. Ensuring many more years of reliable usage. Then they were calibrated at 1 watt RMS and Peak into 8 ohms. They are fairly accurate once calibrated given their low cost.
Why chose what color lights the meters are? Now with a remote you can change the color at any time or having it flash to music. You can also dim or brighten the lights as well.
Please watch the video. This took some work to get right. Comes with the remote and instructions. These are truly unique.
Please note the bits of wear and tear that comes with being classic technology as pictured. There are some wear and scrapes and scratches and sadly someone scratched some some code into the top as well. But they are only really noticeable with brighter lighting. Please see the images.
For those new to these meters, the nice mechanical meters provide an indication of RMS power being sent to your speakers while the LEDs show the peak power that mechanical meters cannot provide. Working together these are both great visual aids to keep an eye on overloading your speakers or amplifier but really nice to watch as well.
The Radio Shack Realistic APM-200 Power Meter was sold during the late 1970s and early 1980s.Which means they are 40+ years old and like most great technology from this era, without some TLC to look after the aging technology, they are prone to breakdowns or could have a catastrophic breakdown. Which is why these meters have had their aging capacitors replaced since all old technology suffers from the limited life span of aging capacitors.
Beware any older technology that has not been serviced/refurbished. Older capacitors leak and change their rating as they age. Decreasing their reliability and their ability to properly pass audio signals and can even fail taking out the whole device.
Some facts to keep in mind
* These meters use a shared ground which is fine for most amplifiers but they cannot be used with some new Class D amplifiers as they will not tolerate a shared ground between the L+R channels. If you have any doubts, check with your manufacturer.
