Introducing an original American Girl Doll, Samantha, manufactured by Pleasant Company. This brand is well known for its high-quality dolls and accessories. This particular doll has a white body and beautiful brown hair. Samantha is an iconic character and would make a wonderful addition to any doll collection. As far as we know this doll was purchased In entirety as she is. There is speculation that the box is a 1986, with a purse and handkerchief from 1987 or 1988. Please view box closely to see that there is rust on the staples. Samantha’s purse has white lining. Inside it, is her original handkerchief with a liberty penny from 1905 taped to it. The handkerchief is dated 1987 and “Made in The Philippines”. Samantha is stamped, “c” , with a circle around it, indicating copyright, and then Pleasant Company, on the back of her neck. Her wig cap is a very similar color to her hair color.

The photos serve as the best description. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Someone asked a few questions about this Samantha doll today so I thought I would add the following information. This dolls joints are not loose at all and she can stand on her own. I took her off her doll stand to determine this and in doing so I discovered that yes the waistband of her bloomers was a little more than big,as I kind of thought when taking photos but rather I think the thin elastic has lost its effectiveness completely with age. The doll stand disguised this pretty well. I will add more photos in the morning.

I did add a couple more photos but cannot say the elastic is shot. Maybe they were made large and the ribbon on her dress is meant to secure her bloomers. 🤷‍♀️

New information: Someone asked the question whether or not her clothes were made in West Germany. So I removed her from the box again and looked, and yes, it was made in West Germany and it is dated 1986. I’ve included a photo. My apologies for not digging deeper in the original listing, dolls are not my expertise. I try to keep things just as they are. 😊
