RARE AFRICANA -

West Africa: Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana) - an excellent collection of 14 [fourteen] original vintage photographs, including several of tribal interest.

A total of 14 original b/w and sepia photographs. Mainly gelatin silver, with a couple albumen. A few captioned on reverse in pencil or ink. Size: various, from 20.7cm x 15.2cm to 11.6cm x 7cm, and in-between.

Very Good to Good condition. Generally well preserved. Very minor edge-wear. Minimal curvature to paper. Silvering to a couple of photographs. Light scattered age-toning and fading in a few cases. A couple with minor marking to rear. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, and view gallery images closely.

This collection of original vintage photographs came from the private collection of a colonial official who worked in Ashanti and the Gold Coast from around 1900 to the 1920s. They are vintage and wholly original to that period. A few are captioned on the rear e.g. 'D.C. Yendis bungalow'; 'N.T. rest house'; 'View from my window'; 'View from escarpment'; 'Accra - cacao ready for shipment'; 'Veterinary bullock'; 'The fort at Kumasi'.
