Rare Pair of Large Japanese Meiji Gilt metal Country house Candlestick Electric lamps

For sale is a rare pair of lamps. These may not be a conversion but be very early 20th century original lamps. They have been rewired atleast twice & will require new wires to be usable as electric lamps again. They are a large size being a fraction under 22 1/2 inches tall (the picture in the photos is huge). The black base is a painted metal like aluminum, on top of that is the copper with the white element on top a painted aluminum again.  The black cord that has been cut suggests a mid to late 20th century conversion with traces of another cord inside that appears to be C1910-1930 suggesting if they have been converted from candles this was the date it was done. Lamps of this scale & quality are difficult to find. Rewired & with the right shade they will make a room. I would think with a little work they will be very expensive objects should the next owner wish to sell them on. Please do study the many images for the best idea of how they present.

This object (as shown in the picture) stands roughly 57cm tall (just under 22 1/2 inches).

 

Condition

In good  antique / vintage condition.  Some flaking to the white candle element of the lamps & a little rubbing to the paint on theblack bases. Great examples that require rewiring to be usable.
