For sale is an engraved antique tin metal Wall Mount Match Box Safe dated 1814.
It has an engraving of a sparrow on the back plate with initials and family crests or shields.
It appears to be an all-over engraving of a Dutch Pennsylvania German style design.
It has a pear and fruit on the lid along with what appears to be an etched name and proverb in German (?).
I am only able to translate a few of the world in the proverb. One is "Sparrows are" and "no turns". I think the name is Mir Ulmer.
The front of the box has a floral and vine etching all-around.
It is 6 1/4" tall by 4 1/4" long by 3" wide. I did not try to do any cleaning of this item.
The condition is very good. There are dents in the back plate and the hinged lid as shown.
