James Hadley Chase - The Flesh Of The Orchid (Jarrolds, 1948) First Edition

Scarce first UK edition of this thriller by James Hadley Chase, published by Jarrolds in the UK, 1948.

From a small private collection of hardback crime and detective novels with their scarce original dustwrappers ex of 'Avery's Lending Library', a small subscription library from the pretty harbour town of Whitstable in Kent. Run by George Avery from his house at 92 Harbour Street, the library was in operation for a short time from the early 1940s to the early 1950s, following Avery's death in 1951. The books have been in storage since. As pictured, all have an Avery's Lending Library sheet tipped in to ffep and their condition is generally commensurate with age and use.

Wraps with wear to edges and several old internal tape repairs (including to the length of spine); a stain to rear; not price clipped. Library stamp sheet tipped in to ffep. Tape repair between final page and endpaper (but not to boards). Binding is sound but with a lean. Binding sound but with a lean. Yellow boards somewhat soiled, as pictured. Well read.

I hope of interest.

Will be boxed for postage.
