About

Under the moniker REVOK, Jason Williams makes vivid geometric paintings. Before he committed to his studio practice, the 1990s California graffiti scene served as an aesthetic training ground. At a young age, he was also exposed to comic books, skateboarding culture, and his father’s records. REVOK occasionally deviates from traditional rectangular surfaces to experiment with circles, hexagons, and shapes that overlap or feature negative space. He is a member of Los Angeles street art collectives the Seventh Letter and the Mad Society Kings. REVOK worked to revitalize Detroit neighborhoods as part of the Detroit Beautification Project and has exhibited at the Pasadena Museum of California Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angels. While in Detroit, he began making kaleidoscopic assemblages from painted, scavenged wood.
