The water turbine is composed of a simple scoop type blade, which is composed of a casing, a nozzle, an impeller and a generator. Its design is extremely simple. When high-speed water flows from the nozzle to the blade, the blade rotates at a high speed to drive the generator to generate electricity. Because of its simplicity, it is small in size, light in weight, simple in structure, reliable in operation, convenient in installation and use, and the rural households in mountainous areas with sporadic small water resources can solve the problems of lighting, television and other power generation equipment.
Slant turbine generator unit belongs to the generator unit with high head and small flow, and the general applicable head range is 5-70 meters. Its working principle is that the jet from the nozzle enters the bucket blade from one side of the runner and leaves the bucket blade from the other side, not along the tangential direction, but along the direction that forms an angle with the rotary plane of the runner.

Installation and operation instructions
1. Installation requirements: the bottom plane of the hydraulic turbine is closely contacted with the foundation plane without gaps, and the contact surface neither makes the tail water splash nor leaks outward.
2. Installation procedure: After the unit foundation with concrete is solidified, the unit shall be installed in place and then poured in sequence. When installing the unit, the levelness must be measured with a level ruler to ensure that the unit is fixed in a horizontal position. The gap between the unit and the ground shall be sealed with cement to prevent water seepage. After the installation of the unit, another inspection shall be carried out, and the runner shaft of the hydraulic turbine shall be rotated manually. If it moves flexibly, the installation of the unit shall be completed.
3. Basic requirements for pipe installation: pipes shall be purchased according to the pipe diameter required by the unit, and the drop height can reduce the pipe diameter. The pipeline shall be straight and the bending shall be minimized. The included angle between the pipeline and the horizontal shall not be less than 25 degrees. Otherwise, the pipeline will grow and the head loss will be large, which will lead to insufficient power generation and other consequences. The water inlet of the headrace pipe installed in the forebay wall is most likely to be a flared pipe. Its lower edge is not less than 0.2 meters from the pool bottom plane. The inner diameter of the joint shall be equal. In order to reduce the head loss, the joint shall be minimized.
4. Installation of steel pipes: most of the micro hydropower stations use steel pipes with flanges welded. During installation, the flange rubber pad must be placed correctly to avoid reducing the water passing section. The pipe joint nuts should be tightened gradually in diagonal order.
5. Anchor block: at the water diversion pipe joint and turbine nozzle, the pipe bears the maximum pressure, so a anchor block must be built with stone or concrete to fix the metal pipe.
6. Buttress: due to the weight of self weight and water, the metal pipe is easy to bend and deform if it is too long, so a buttress must be added in the middle. The location of the branch pipe should preferably be set at the joint of the pipe.
Inspection after installation
1. Check the pipes and joints for leakage. If leakage is found, the causes shall be analyzed and handled in a timely manner.
2. The dirt blocking the pipeline left during installation shall be cleaned to ensure smooth water flow.
3. Check whether the pipe is bent or deformed and whether the support is firm after bearing the water pressure. In case of any abnormal phenomenon, it shall be handled in time.
Installation of valves
The valve is installed on the water intake pipe, and the end close to the unit is about 1 m away from the nozzle or directly installed on the nozzle, depending on the specific situation. The valve diameter of micro hydropower should be consistent with that of water pipe. Gate valve or ball valve can be selected, but stop valve must not be used, because the selection of stop valve will reduce the flow section and affect the turbine output.
Two points must be paid attention to when installing the valve:
1. The centerline of turbine runner shaft and tailrace must be kept on the same plumb line.
2. The flange rubber gasket shall be properly padded and the bolt connection shall be fastened, so as to reduce the head loss and prevent leakage.

The machine room of the micro turbine unit can be built as a civil building, which shall ensure ventilation in the room and be free from water leakage and seepage. Its area depends on the size of the unit, and the distance from the unit to the wall shall not be less than 0.8m to facilitate installation, maintenance and operation.

Inspection before commissioning. After the installation of micro hydropower, it must be checked before the test run. The inspection includes the inspection of installation quality, micro water motor unit and electrical system.
Inspection of installation quality
1. The water channel and headrace pipe shall be free of water leakage, the fence at the water inlet shall be free of debris, and the valve shall be flexible to open and close;
2. The water level of the ponding pond shall be kept to the design water level;
3. The drainage ditch shall be covered tightly;
Inspection of micro water motor unit and electrical system
1. Open the control box cover of the generator and check whether the brush and slip ring are in good contact;
2. All mechanical connection fasteners shall be free from looseness;
3. The runner shall rotate flexibly without shaking or abnormal sound, and lubricating oil shall be added to all rotating parts.
4. The wiring of electrical appliances shall be reliable, and the total power load shall not exceed the rated generating power of the generator set. Units connected with electric regulators or equipped with mechanical voltage regulators may not be connected to the load temporarily, but the electric regulators must be firmly wired or the mechanical voltage regulators must be sensitive.
Commissioning
Slowly open the gate to drain water, the water flow will drive the runner to rotate, and the generator voltage will slowly rise to the rated voltage. Note: (Users who install valves must open the valve to the maximum position) If the maximum generating capacity exceeds 20% of the rated generating capacity of the unit, the water volume should be reduced and the maximum generating capacity should be adjusted to 105% of the rated generating capacity to prevent the unit from working under overload for a long time. If the generating capacity is less than the design capacity, check whether the submergence depth of the headrace of the forebay is sufficient, whether there are cyclones entering, whether the headrace is blocked, and whether the unit operates with jamming and friction, and try again after the problem is eliminated.
