Description: Graphic Pencils - A Derwent Staple Originating from the heart of the Lake District, Derwent has been at the forefront of developing quality, innovative fine art materials since 1832. The Graphic pencils are a Derwent staple; graphite was first discovered in the 1500s in Borrowdale in the Lake District, a stones throw from Derwents first pencil factory, and the company produced the first graphite pencil in the UK. Traditional, High-Quality Graphite Pencils The Derwent Graphic range of traditional, high-quality graphite drawing pencils are made from the finest quality graphite with a wide choice of degrees from a fine and crisp 9H to a soft and smudgy 9B. With a smooth, finely textured graphite strip for professional application the pencils are ideal for fine, detailed illustrations or adding shading and texture for tone drawings. From Hard to Black and Everything In Between H stands for Hard and B stands for Black, therefore the higher the number the Harder or Blacker the pencil. The Graphic 12 tin contains soft graphite pencils from 9B to H, ideal for tonal sketches. The soft smudge-able lines build up layers of tone, adding shading and texture to a drawing. The harder H degree pencil will add the finer detail to work. Greater Precision and Control The pencils are presented in a metal tin with removable lid and individual pencil slots, meaning they can easily be stored and protected. Finished in black livery with a distinct orange stripe for easy identification, the pencils degree is imprinted into its paintwork. The hexagonal barrel allows for greater precision and control and the pencils are easy to sharpen and break resistant, making them ideal for long periods of use. A Popular Choice The Soft 12 tin contains 12 different degrees of Derwent Graphic pencils, from 9B to H. The pencils are a popular choice and are widely used by designers, artists and illustrators.
