This is for a scarce Victorian sewing needle case from the 1860s called 'The Silver Casket'. It has a rose basket to one side and it is advertising the makers W. Avery & Son, Redditch on the reverse. The patent for this type of case was filed by William Avery in 1868. The case is rectangular in shape and hold a needle packet inside. The case is in excellent condition with no dents just surface wear and it measures 42mm (1.5") by 20mm (0.75").
