TAKARADiaclone Train Robo Giftset. Transformers G1 Raiden

Thisis the Train Robo giftset released by TAKARA in 1983 in Japan only as part ofthe Diaclone line.  These figures were repurposedin 1987 as the Japanese exclusive Raiden train combiner for the G1 Transformersline in Japan.

Eachof the trains is modelled faithfully after a Japanese train with an opening cabfor a Diaclone driver. Each transforms into a small detailed robot.  Allsix trains combine to form a superrobot.  This set the pattern for all the latercombining bots in the Transformers line.

Theset is used, but it is in good shape.  Itis almost complete.  Originally this setcame with a playmat showing a train track diorama. This set is missing, as arethe instructions and original paperwork. One of the small silver robot guns ismissing and the green connector parts to link the individual trains togetherare also missing.

Allthat said, the individual trains are in great shape. Colour is good and joints aregood. But do consider these are 41 year old plastic toys. All the parts to formthe super robot are included, including the spring-loaded launching fists andthe super robot gun. The set comes with the two original Diaclone drivers andeight pieces of train track. The Styrofoam tray is in good shape. The outer boxis good, but does have tears, dings, corner damage and some tape marks.

Allthe trains display a simple TAKARA Japan copyright stamp marking them as thecorrect original release.

Iwould caution that this figure should be considered very fragile.  It is over 40 years old.  It’s a beautiful bit of pre-transformershistory.
