Hasegawa 1/72 US Army AH-1S Cobra Chopper US Army Plastic Model E5

1/72 scale plastic model.
The Bell AH-1S Cobra is an attack helicopter for ground troop support.
The Cobra series was developed and improved from the UH-1 Iroquois during the Vietnam War.
The main improvements from the Iroquois are concentrated on the front of the fuselage.
The front fuselage area of the Iroquois was reduced to 1/3 of that of the Iroquois, the pilot and gunner were arranged in tandem (longitudinal row), and stabilizer wings were added to both sides of the fuselage to enhance stability during high-speed flight and to provide a platform for carrying missiles and rocket bombs.
The main rotor is a door-hinged rotor to increase the speed and maneuverability of the aircraft.
The basic armament is a 7.62mm machine gun or 20mm machine gun with an Emerson TAT 102 turret mounted on the model, and a nose turret linked to the shooter's helmet device enables highly accurate fire.
The Cobra is also equipped with a bulletproof cockpit, as it flies at low altitude and relatively slow speeds, making it vulnerable to enemy fire.
The Cobra series is mainly used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, and the type and shape differ between the Army and Marine Corps.
This is an Army version of the AH-1S Cobra.
This type has a Lycoming T53-L-703 turboshaft engine, and the power transmission system has been strengthened to increase engine power.
The increase in power output also allowed for a larger armament capacity.
The maximum armament capacity is 8 TOW missiles, 38 rockets, and a 20mm triple machine gun and 760 rounds of ammunition in the nose.
