An good collection of 15 original albumen photographs of Egypt, with a focus on the Suez Canal, and also including Port Said, Ismailia and other places in the region, c1890s.

A total of 15 original albumen photographs (plus a couple of additional unrelated images e.g. Aden and Naples). Various photographers including Arnoux, Mounted back to back on stiff loose album leaves. One photograph is loose and unmounted. Mostly with captions in the negatives and most with contemporary pencil captions on the mounts. Size: mounts - 36cm x 29cm / photographs - approx. 28cm x 22cm, or slightly larger or smaller, plus 19.5cm x 13cm and 25.5cm x 20cm.

Good to Fair only condition. Tones good in some case, less so in others. Most of the images with some degree of age-toning, and a few with some pronounced fading as well. Foxing to several of the photographs, but mainly in the sky areas. One image with quite heavy foxing. The loose photograph has some creasing in the top left, and lighter creasing elsewhere in the image. The mounts also with age-toning and some foxing, and some light wear and minor chipping to edges in some areas.  Some waviness to mounts as typical.
