This Scottish infantry unit was raised in the 1780s. It served with the British Army until 1881 when it was merged into The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). The Scottish 71st Glasgow Highlanders were more than a match for anything that Napoleon sent against them. They were present at the final battle of the Napoleonic wars, the battle of Waterloo in 1815 where 16 Officers and 171 soldiers were killed.
