1989 Press Photo Catherine Lipsham and Ramona Barry after Ordered Trial

This is an original press photo. Catherine Ann Lipsham (left), 22, and Ramona Estelle Barry, 27, both of 2421 South 5th Place were ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges stemming from the attempted ritualistic ax slaying of a man last week on the South Side. They waived their right to preliminary hearings before Circuit Judge Joseph P. Callan. They are charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The third woman charged in the attack, Deborah Kazuck, 26, of 728 East Lincoln Avenue will have a separate preliminary hearing. She is undergoing a mental competency examination, the results of which are to be reported to the court Thursday. Attorneys said insanity pleas were likely to be filed for all three women.
