Mussolini ordered the Italian army to invade Abyssinia in 1935 as he wanted its rich mineral reserves and to relocate unemployed Italians on land captured from the Abyssinian people. Invasion of Abyssinia took place in March 1936 and the Italian Army conquered the Abyssinians by October 1936.
