The color sideof the stone (Hard Arkansas) is extra-fine and could actually be a TRANSLUCENT, 

but not 100% sure.

This is a first quality stone with a couple of minor imoerfections.

This is a good solid stone that is flat and lapped with level sharpening surfaces.
