This whistle is made from a beautiful piece of African Blackwood. It is one of the prettiest pieces of Blackwood including some burl. It’s really hard to capture the beauty of the wood as it is really dark and doesn’t show up well on the camera, but rest assured it looks better in real life. African Blackwood is very expensive and highly sought after for making wind instruments as it has a very dense waxy hardwood that is ideal for machining and great a repelling moisture when played.

This Low D has a nice clear solid tone and is very easy to play up into the second octave. If you want to hear the sound I will post a video of it being played on YouTube and all my social media @nick.metcalf
