We are private sellers and make little or no profit from selling on eBay. We are aiming to mostly sell items in order to de-clutter and clear out things we no longer have an interest in. We normally make a small loss on our postage charges, too. Therefore we cannot sustain the overheads of other sellers and we are not a business.

So please check our comments and terms below and be aware of them if you are bidding. If they are not to your liking then thank you for looking and we understand why you would not bid. We will not haggle over any of the conditions below, so we would rather you didn’t bid at all.

So, when we post an item it will be posted Royal Mail Signed For, either First or Second Class. There will be no exceptions to this for small items so please factor this into the overall cost. For larger items we will use a suitable parcel delivery service and this will also be tracked.

To ensure that we get the right postage we will not use the eBay postage system. This has caused problems regarding the price eBay estimates for postage and we will not use it. Items will, instead, be taken to a post office and paid for over the counter. Tracking information will therefore not automatically appear on eBay but we will add it later if required. This is to ensure that the correct postage is paid in all cases, which unfortunately has not been out experience of the automatic eBay system.

We have also had items returned opened, for example new and sealed records, DVDs or CDs. Such items are not suitable for us to re-list and we clearly lose money going from a new item to something that has been open, played, etc. and then returned. We do not offer refunds in such cases and we will only accept items back if they are in the same condition in which we sold them. This also applies to items which are returned with missing parts, such as a 2LP set which was returned with one record only (and a demand for a full refund).

Automatic re-listing in eBay often result in a change to the item, including the offer price and the postage – we will try and avoid that and all postage will be Signed For. We will cancel any items where this does not appear to be the case. We do not accept bids or offer for any items, so we will ignore these if we see them – they are usually something eBay changes when items are automatically relisted.

We will not post internationally without prior agreement, and we will not use the eBay international postage system as we have had problems with it in the past. For example, in posting two items to two different countries, we post these to an address in the UK and eBay apparently does the rest. In one case two items were mixed up and sent to the wrong addresses. We refunded all the costs associated with this and lost both the items and a lot of money. Again, automatic re-listing usually changes this aspect of the item description against our wishes. We will cancel any such bids, and notify you of this should you bid. Thank you for understanding this.

We are sorry if it seems harsh or draconian but we are not selling items to make large profits and our margins, after ridiculous postage costs and eBay fees over which we have no influence, are very low. We cannot sustain fraudulent or deceptive sales and we have to cover our postage costs.
