Notes about phosphor bands.

An inexperienced buyer has just returned one lot to me because he did not see the phosphor bands  .

It's not always easy so i will give some explanations to help beginners.

Sometimes the bands are visible to the naked eye (yellowish bands).

When the bands are less visible, place the stamp horizontally at eye level with a light behind this stamp. By tilting the stamp slightly you will see the phosphor bands. It's free and easy with a little practice.

You can also use a SHORT wave ultraviolet lamp ( my beginner buyer uses a long wave lamp which is totally unsuitable here of course :))) )

• To see the different coloured phosphors on the 1960 Wildings issue its the phosphor afterglow you are looking for when you turn the U.V. light off. Green phosphor is the brightest followed by Blue, the Violet has a very short afterglow (5 sec). It will be difficult to see the afterglow in daylight, the darkest the room, the better.
• DO NOT look directly at a short wave lamp or use for very long period as short wave light could harm your eyes.
