This 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is beautifully restored, luxurious convertible that is ready for some serious summer cruising! In 1955, Cadillac introduced only modest styling changes to its Series 62 model such as a refined grille design with wider spaces between the blades and relocating the parking lights to be situated directly below the headlights. Nonetheless, Cadillac's sales soared to heights never seen before by General Motors' most luxurious marque. In fact, virtually the entire American automotive industry was booming in 1955 which surely contributed to Cadillac's success. However, Cadillac had positioned itself atop its primary competitors such as Lincoln/Continental, who would debut their flagship Mark II the following year, and Packard, who debuted their first V8 engine in '55 and would essentially be out of business the following year. Cadillac had built a sterling reputation as the purveyor of the most elegant and finest automobiles with many believing that the owner of a Cadillac had achieved perhaps the highest status in society. In 1955, Cadillac's model lines were divided into essentially two distinct lines, the daily drivers consisting of the Series 62 and the sportier Eldorado, and the more professionally-inclined Series 60 and Series 75 Fleetwoods aimed at chauffeured-driven buyers. Put another way, the owners of Series 62s and Eldorados wanted to enjoy Cadillac's outstanding driving experience themselves, whereas the Fleetwoods were likely piloted by a chauffeur with the owner sitting in back. While the Eldorado was the most expensive of the consumer-minded Cadillacs, the Series 62 Convertible was the second-most expensive model. In total, a mere 8,150 Series 62 Convertibles were produced which makes this particular example quite a rare piece of 50s Americana. Under the hood on this '55 Cadillac Convertible is a Numbers Matching 331 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 250 horsepower when new. The 331 V8 is backed by a Hydra-Matic Automatic transmission, ensuring that just about anybody can take this baby for a spin around the block. Exhaust exits the 331 Cadillac powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a wonderful throaty sound out the rear. Loaded with options, the 1955 Cadillac Sixty-Two exudes luxury! With power steering, maneuvering in and out of a tight space a the local car show or drive-in feels almost effortless. Power brakes are another welcome addition on this nearly 4,600+ pound Cadillac Convertible since it makes stopping a lot easier. The black cloth power convertible top is in fantastic condition, raising and lowering with the simple flick of a switch. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires mounted on chrome wire wheels with Cadillac crest center caps, this '55 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible has an outstanding look cruising down the road. The body is accented with gorgeous chrome and anodized gold-colored trim, and it has been refinished in beautiful Alpine White paint that completes the exterior look of the car. The interior of this 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Coupe is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been correctly reupholstered in red leather. The interior is decked out with fantastic options as well! The front bench seat is also power adjustable so that nearly anybody can feel comfortable behind the wheel. All four power windows look and work great, raising and lowering with the simple flick of a switch. The upholstered door panels, red carpeting, padded dash, and steering wheel, all look to be in fantastic condition and appear to remain in their stock configuration. Sitting atop the dash as well is an Autronic eye which is a super cool 50s novelty. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 110 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is finished off with a center-mounted push-button radio, clock, and locking glovebox. Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to your existing collection of 50s cruisers, this 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible would make an excellent choice.
