EXQUISITE 1930s ART DECO ENGLISH POTTERY PLATE
Presenting an exceptionally scarce and desirable plate produced by the quality English makers, Maling circa 1930s.
This stunning example is spectacularly decorated with an exotic parrot perched upon a flowering blossom branch. The masterfully hand painted parrot is rendered in vibrant colours, its flowing feathers perfectly balanced with clusters of blossoms arranged to create a wonderfully dynamic design which beautifully encapsulates the energy of the 1930s Art Deco period.
SIZE: This exceptionally impressive plate measures approx 280mms or 11 inches in diameter.
CONDITION: This stunning example is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some exceptionally light and fine overall crazing and a couple of incredibly small, shallow surface scratches noticeable only on extremely close examination in bright raking light. The hand painted design remains wonderfully rich and vibrant with no major wear and the body is clean and stain free. This plate has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.
MARKS: This piece is marked to the reverse with a black "Maling Newcastle on Tyne England" stamp and a green hand brushed pattern number 5454.
