THE HISTORY:

I have for sale our 1970 camper, owned since March 2008. It had been restored two years previously, including a new 1600cc engine with carb, various mechanicals, panels, roof resto, new Empi wheels, new interior with full size rock n roll bed, cupboards, folding seat, smoked windows and seals, Scat gear change, Scat seats, stereo and numerous other items.

It featured in ‘Camper & Bus’ magazine and I've included some pages at the end of the video.

As a family, we used the bus each summer. One year we drove it through France to the Alps, into Switzerland, reaching Montreux before heading back. Over 3500 miles with no issues. It was garaged until 2013 when we moved to the Isle of Arran, it then had a barn as home until we returned to mainland in 2016. It then lived outside and had a full bespoke cover until a few years ago when the winds ripped it off. It was never supposed to be outside for as long as it has, but our ‘temporary’ house became more permanent than was meant!

THE GOOD:

With a freshly charged battery she fires up every time. Gears are smooth, tyres matching and good, brakes were overhaled while on Arran, steering all fine. But she has not been driven on the road for about 3 years, so I cannot guarantee these things.

Interior is still very good in my opinion, the floor vinyl probably could do with changing, curtains a little faded. They are complete wrap around with alloy rail. There is a small sink with power tap running from container, two burner cooker and grill, 12v fridge. Rock n Roll full double bed is comfy and all works. Wired with 240v electrics. Pop up top is in good condition, has the bunks on each side and a small hammock attaches over the front seats (if I can find it!) So it can sleep 5. We have a large drive away awning/tent for extra space, but as this has not been out of its bag for many years this must be seen as a bonus if it is still ok! We never used the single pole table which drops into the floor hole, but I have it somewhere.

THE NOT SO GOOD:

She needs a complete front panel as it barely now exists! The roof rail section above the sliding door needs cutting away and replacing. Those are the two really bad bits visually - in my opinion. Other areas of some panels show the usual signs of needing tlc. Chrome on the front headlights is not great.

Signs of rust under the front suspension. Fuel tank has a leak, but I suspect that this is a perforated pipe (not been underneath to see).

A few leaks from the roof. I don’t think this is the main material, I think it is the seals around the glass which could do with silicone.

OVERVIEW:

Don’t buy this if you don’t know what you are doing or into! It is not a weekend project fix. The van has been amazing for us and it needs to go to someone who has more time than we now have to get the best out of her going forward.

The mileage was around 22k when i bought her after the resto and it is now 31k.

She is currently taxed, insured and does not require an MOT!

I have masses of documentation for work done previously, paperwork and the magazine in which she featured.

Very happy to answer any questions.
