Vintage 1940s Candlelight Slipper Satin Wedding Dress Art Deco Bridal Gown

Estimated modern XS- but PLEASE see measurements to confirm and/or make your own best judgment call. Please keep in mind, when looking at the measurements, there really is not any stretch.

This dress was soaked / hand laundered, but will absolutely need to be pressed / steamed. This will either be shipped in a large polymailer or folded and shipped in a box. Again, it will absolutely need to be pressed / steamed.

FEATURES:

Side zip closure. Lace sleeves and back - giving an almost bolero appearance. Satin has been manipulated at sides of waist (and around the back) to create an almost trim like appearance. Long built in train. Bust darts/pleats

COLOR: an ivory candlelight satin. The lace has discolored with age, but still looks appropriate with the color of the satin.

WOUNDS FROM TIME:

Presents quite beautiful due to the sheen of the satin. There is a round area on the bodice that in certain lights looks lighter and a mark nearby. The skirt (mostly near the hem) have some scuffs (one or two that that have some small pin holes in the middle of). A few areas with some discoloration … and a few very minimal scuff marks and some other small marks to the satin. See photos. There is a more noticeable spot is by the wrist on one sleeve - my guess is from the nearby button rust. Sleeve buttons will need to be replaced due to rust/discoloration, but there's not many of them. The zipper had no issues. There are some threads on the interior that could stand to be trimmed, but truly this is a lovely dress.

However, of course, see video and photos to make your own assessment.

MATERIAL: unknown - I would assume silk, but that is purely a guess.

Measurements taken flat and APPROXIMATE

Shoulder to shoulder- 13" - this was taken seam to seam and since the sleeves due have a little bit of a puff/pleating/ruffling to them this isn't as tight as it sounds. It didn't feel bad at all.

Smallest part of Waist- just over 13"

waist at waist seam - just over 14"

Hips not taken due to full nature

Chest front (underarm to underarm with bust darts taken into account)-17" in front - some definite wiggle room due to bust pleats

Chest back (underarm to underarm)- 16"

Shoulder to front of hem- 59"

shoulder to end of train - 104"

Sleeve length - 23" to wrist, 25" to end of point

I am 5’2” and was 100 pounds and wearing 4” heels when I filmed the video. It was a little bit loose in the waist and it was not tight in the bust. Keep in mind this will have to be pulled on overhead - there is a side zipper but you still have to pull it overhead... so that's why I am recommending for an XS - but still please look at the measurements.
