This is a nice group of Graduated Boxed Side Beads by James Emes of London and dates to the mid to late 1800’s.  The sizes are stamped on the heel: 1/8, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 7/8. The irons are all nice and clean and will probably need a light hone but nothing more before use. They have been together for around 150 years and three of the wedges have been replaced. The irons all have plenty of life left in them. Apart from a small piece of boxwood missing on the 3/4 plane at the heel end the boxwood is complete and in excellent condition. The smallest four are slipped Side Beads. Overall this is a nice useable group of planes by a London maker.
