I’ll put this little bit of advice here as it might help someone out and it saves me time explaining things. These ain’t cheap so I wouldn’t want you messing up the transfer. Taking apart the controller for the first time is probably the trickiest part. So get on YouTube for tare-down vids.

Potential pit falls to avoid.

Don’t over-tighten any screws the more you tighten and disassemble and reassemble the more damage you will do to the threads. This is one of the main causes for a controller requiring a new bottom shell. If it’s not sandwiched together correctly it may cause problems. So these screw holes feel real nice on a new shell you can tap into them with just enough torque and they will hold good. You can only enjoy this experience limited times so make it count.

Try to avoid using anything like super glue it can make a real mess of the controller it will not wipe off. Ask me how I know. If you are going to do this then you need to apply the least amount possible. Even the slightest excess of glue can splash out when you insert the magnet. This can cause issues with paddle mechanism. So I usually just apply a tiny bead on some paper and wet the magnet slightly by dragging it trough if this is the only way. But try and use the adhesion which is already on the magnet.

Trigger stops can be an issue for some. When you extricate them from your old shell take a little moment to get your head around the path of insertion. There is a small tab on the shell which needs to be above the trigger lock rail which holds it in place. In other words the curved bit needs to go under the tab bit.

Damper pads, what the hell are they? I’ll tell ya. If you miss this step it’s not critical but your triggers may feel less stock and more clacky as they whack on the shell. So on the old shell look in the trigger bay you will see a small piece of foam with a plastic film on it. Gently peal it off with tweezers and place it in situ on your new shell. It’s easy to rip so if you gently warm it up with a hair dryer or heat gun to loosen up the adhesive and transfer it at the same time it will make your life easier.

Finally if you have any parts left over other than your old shell then this is bad as you have forgotten something so just be patient and methodical and allow yourself plenty of time. You’ve got this!!
