“BRITISH MODERNIST ART, 1905-1930”

You are bidding on an exhibition catalogue entitled “BRITISH MODERNIST ART, 1905-1930” which was published to accompany a gallery show of the same name which was put on by the Hirschl-Adler Gallery in New York City in 1987-1988. The show highlighted the works produced by some of the best and most innovative artists working in Britain in this historically pivotal era. The exhibit (and the book) pulled together works of art from museums & collections across The USA and Europe – including many private lenders, and the resulting show is a rare look at the work of these Modernist painters.

There were 138 separate artworks in this show, and each of them is completely illustrated in colour. Each painting from the exhibit has an extensive write-up by the editor/curator, which puts the picture into historical cultural, & artistic perspective, detailing the artist, provenance, dates, materials, and so on. There is also an brief introduction. The book would be of interest for anyone who appreciates 20th century art, British history, and so on. This catalog a “tour de force” of the English avant-garde in the first half of the 20th century.

The book is a softcover, and is large format, measuring about 8 x 11 inches. It is 144 pages, and was published by the Gallery in New York in 1987. It is used, but is in very good condition -- no writing or staining, no missing or torn pages, tight spine/binding, and clean covers. The top bidder should add $22.99 postage within Canada, or $25.99 to the USA. Please check out my other, similar books, as multiple items are always combined for cheapest postage. Full refund if not happy. Thanks for looking!
