PLEASE READ!! 

Up for auction this week I have a pre-war Dinky Toy C.P.O. Post Office Mail pillar box. Because this little 2" (5.5 cm) model was made of Mazak (a magnesium, zinc and copper alloy), many pre-war models have suffered from metal fatigue, which when combined with other waste metal added to the dies, made these models very brittle and easily compromised. In the case of the pillar mail boxes Dinky produced (12a - G.P.O. and 12b - Air Mail), the weakest point was where the sign was attached to the base. The pillar box you are bidding on has had the post office cap sign reaffixed with a very strong adhesive where it had broken off the base. Because the break was clean, the two pieces were reattached seamlessly, one to the other. This item is VERY difficult to find.

The sign and body are in what otherwise appear to be completely original condition, with minor paint loss - please consult photos.
