"Impressionism and the North," published by Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 2003, 312 pages, large hardcover with dust jacket, 11.5" by 9.5". Text in English. Exceptional book tracing the influence of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism on turn-of-the-century Scandinavian art, from 1870 to 1920. Extensively researched and copiously illustrated with over 200 plates in color, showing both Scandinavian and French works, including paintings by Edvard Munch, Anders Zorn, and Gallen-Kallela as well as outstanding works by lesser-known artists such as J.F. Willumsen, Anna Archer, Theodor Phillipsen, Helmer Osslund, Karl Nordstrom, Ivan Agueli, Nils Kreuger, Alfred Willam Finch, and Georg Pauli, among others. Special sections are devoted to visits to Scandinavia by both Monet and Gauguin and the work produced there. A superb book replete with beautiful artwork - my highest recommendation. Out of print and scarce. Sold numerous copies and this is now the last one. In excellent condition.
