Savoye Pewter Toy Co. was incorporated in August of 1930. Pewter was often the word used for lead alloy or potmetal. The company only lasted until 1937. Collectors identify vehicle toys as Savoye if they have a somewhat coarse appearance, heavy slushmold body and white rubber tires on oversized red wooden hubs that are smooth on the outside surface (no axle showing). This gun truck, Model # SA21, measures 3¼" long, has an Army driver and gunner and an angular rear deck that distinguishes it from similar gun trucks. Often mistaken for toys made by Barclay and Manoil.
