This is a set of unusual wooden plate holders for full glass plates (6½” x 8½”). They are made of ebonised hardwood with brass fittings and leather pull tabs. They appear to be of very good quality. They are unbranded, but the dimensions of the holders are all imperial, so they were probably UK made. I suspect they were made in the late 19th century.

The loading doors all work well and the draw slides move freely. The only damage is to one of the small wooden runners on the side of one plate holder which has broken off (see photo). These small runners appear to be glued to the holders, so this should be an easy repair.

The overall dimensions of the holders (excluding the draw slides) are 10" x 6½”. The runners on the side of the holders which slide into the camera are ⅛" wide which makes the maximum width of the holder 6¾". The holders are ⅝" thick.

Please ensure that these holders fit your camera before you buy.
