Early 19th Century Staffordshire England, Toby Jug.

Hand Painted throughout and dressed in cobalt blue jacket, red trousers and black shoes. Standing on a mossy base.

These original Toby's date back to the 18th Century.

Toby jug is the name of a very special form of jug or pitcher. It is shaped like the full figure of a man or woman.

The Toby Jug was named after Toby Philpot, an infamous drinker mentioned in a British song written in 1761.


Condition. in good condition, no faults found.

Minor age related paint flakes as seen, and age related crazing.
