This is what we believe is an antique french Egg chatelaine case / box holder, from the end of 19thc, made of brass, or having a gold gilt with etched flowers and foliage in the metal. There is a  chain attached.

                                         

                             

      We feel it is in good condition.  There is one tarnished spot on the metal and on that same side a few dimple dents.  very small and hard to show in the pictures.   Size  2 1/2" long  x 1 1/2" wide ,  height 1 1/2 tall   Ths chain has a drop of approx 

1 3/4"  This egg is lined . It seems to snap shut.  If there was an actual latch it is gone.
