An effective way to avoid a summer-long spraying schedule

These 6 " X 9" bags were used to cover approximately 350 apple & Asian pear fruitlets to protect them from damage caused by leaf roller & coddling moth larvae.

However, 90+ degree summers & unknown effects of the hot plastic's chemicals possibly leaching into the fruit caused me to look for alternatives. Not only are organza bags an effective way to avoid a summer-long spraying schedule, but they are reusable as well. have been extremely effective, typically with 100% protection from these pests. They have already been subject to gusty winds, downpours, & heat, & have held up perfectly. They are as lightweight as the plastic bags & the drawstrings were, for the most part, easily pulled closed around the stems.
