In May 2018 a huge fire broke out at Europa-Park theme park in Rust, Germany. Thankfully there was no loss of life but the fire did destroy the park's Pirates In Batavia/ Piraten in Batavia dark ride and the nearby Scandinavian themed area of the park.

After the fire the park decided they would rebuild both Pirates In Batavia and the Scandinavian area with some updates and improvements.
