Rare 1974 first edition of Sounder author William H. Armstrong's children's book 'My Animals,' with color illustrations by Mirko Hanák throughout. Hardcover book, with dustjacket intact, in good condition. There is a rip on the back cover of dustjacket, which shows some signs of discoloration, and inside jacket is price clipped. (See photos) There is also a gift-giver's inscription on first page to the original owner. Otherwise, the pages are in very good condition. 10.5 x 7.5 inches

William Howard Armstrong (1911 – 1999) was an American writer of children's literature and educator, best known for his 1969 novel Sounder, which won the Newbery Medal.

Mirko Hanák (1921 – 1971) was a Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator who became famous mainly for illustrations and lithographs with nature themes, particularlary wild animals from the Czech countryside.
